HOW TO APPLY & SENSITIVITY TEST

Frequently asked questions; 

A hair dryer and a good set of hair straightening irons are required for the Brazilian Hair Straightening treatment (and perhaps some help from a friend).

How to apply keratin hair treatment;

​

Wash the hair twice with the Pre-Treatment Clarifying Shampoo, rinse and towel dry (do not use conditioner).​

​

Blow-dry the hair straight on a medium heat until completely dry.Comb the hair thoroughly; combing each section 5 times.​

​

Part the hair into manageable sections using hair clips.

Shake the product well before use, wear gloves and use in a well-ventilated room.​

​

Brush the Brazilian Keratin Treatment onto small sections of hair (avoiding the scalp) and comb out the excess.​

​

Continue until all the hair has been treated. Please note that using excess product does NOT result in straighter hair, it just creates unpleasant smoke and fumes.​

​

After 20 minutes, blow-dry the hair (away from the face) on a medium heat until completely dry.

Note: Do not wash your hair – the product must be left on the hair for 3 days / 72 hours.

Iron the hair 4-7 times using hair straightening irons set at 185°C (fine hair), 200°C (medium hair) or 220°C (coarse hair). Take care not to damage the hair with excess heat or repetitions.​

​

Do not wash, tie up or style the hair for 3 days. If hair gets wet or kinked re-straighten with hot hair irons.​

​

After 3 days, wash the hair with Salt-Free Shampoo and Conditioner (not included in the kit).​

​

Aftercare: Use Salt-Free Shampoo and Conditioner on an on-going basis to prevent the treatment from washing out prematurely.

Skin Sensitivity Test

​

Hair treatments can cause allergic reactions. A skin sensitivity test must be carried out 48 hours before use.

​1.  Wash and dry a small patch of skin behind the ear.​

2.  Apply a very small quantity of the keratin complex to the area of skin.​

3.  Allow it to dry and do not wash off for 48 hours.​

4.  If during this time any redness, irritation or swelling occurs, wash off immediately and do not use the product on this person.

Other Safety Considerations

​

• Keep out of reach of children. 
• The product is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women; or children under 12 years of age. 
• Do not use the product if you have an irritated or damaged scalp. 
• If any signs of irritation occur, please discontinue use and immediately wash the product out of the hair using regular shampoo. 
• Avoid contact with eyes. Rinse eyes immediately if product comes into contact with them. If you wear contact lenses, take them out before rinsing your eyes thoroughly with water.
  If irritation persists seek medical advice. 
• The treatment may lighten coloured hair by a shade. If this concerns you, we recommend that hair is coloured two weeks after the keratin treatment. 
• Strong odour may cause irritation in sensitive individuals, so please use in a well-ventilated room.
